Rachel Madan | Director, Sustainability and Impact at Luminous

In making the transition into a leadership role, Rachel was looking for support in reframing and articulating her skillset. And once she’d secured her current role at Luminous, she then wanted support in articulating her vision for the brand new position.

The challenge:

I’ve worked with Shannon twice before. The first time I was looking to pivot from an individual contributor to a leadership / people manager role. That transition is a really difficult one. The second time I’d recently joined Luminous and I worked with Shannon as an onboarding coach.

The solution:

The first time we worked together to recognise the skills necessary to make that leap to a leadership role and present that in a way that would be taken on board by a recruiter. The second time, Shannon was that critical objective voice in helping me define my goals for myself and laying out a path that would be key for implementing those goals.

The result:

[Now director of sustainability and impact at strategic communications agency Luminous] I'm actually the first person to have this job. I was recruited in to create the function and lead the team. When I first started that team was just me, now I have two people reporting to me and I'm about to hire a third.
