Hello and Happy New Year. A lot of you all are starting your New Year with final rounds of interviews, which is exciting, and asking questions about salary negotiation.

So my top three tips are always ask them first, if you can, what their range is. Usually they'll have a salary band for the role and for that title or level. So it's always good to know what is their range they're going to be working from.

Secondly, tell them that the most important thing for you is that it's the right fit for both sides, but that it's not only about salary for you, it's also about the full benefits package and the comprehensive offerings. So you can say, yes, salary is important to some degree, but you're really looking at the negotiation to be about the full package. And then thirdly, if you are kind of pushed to give them a number, make sure that the number is a range. And that range is about a $10,000 range. So with the bottom number being the number you really want.

So if you want $100,000, then you would say my ideal range would be between $100 ,000-$115,000. But again, depending on the benefits package and any other offerings.
