Noemí Jiménez | Cofounder & Partner, qb
Dec 10, 2023Though being laid off for the first time felt daunting, Noemí embraced the opportunity to take the time to figure out what she wanted, and worked with Shannon to begin building her own brand.
The challenge:
I had been laid off for the first time ever so it felt a little bit scary but at the same time as if a weight had been lifted off my. I knew that there was an opportunity to pivot and todo something different.
The solution:
I had in the back of my mind that maybe I wanted to do my own thing as I’d seen some opportunities and gaps in the corporate responsibilities and sustainability ESG consulting world, but I had a bit of impostor syndrome. At first when me and Shannon worked together we began fixing my resumé and looking for jobs but quickly she helped me sort through my feelings and realised I actually did want to do something on my own. She helped me figure out how to position our brand and how to launch and gave me one of the best pieces of advice that I still hold on to today. Which is, if you’re starting off on your own, make as much free content as possible. Put things out there. Even if you’re not being interviewed or invited on podcasts, use social media and LinkedIn, which is such a powerful tool. Create a blog, have a newsletter, just start putting your brand out there…
The result:
I followed that advice and one of the biggest tools that I had was the platform that I was able to create for myself, as me and my co-founder at qb figured out our brand. It really, really paid off.
